Our Work Gets Published in JACS

A Transaminase Triggered Aza-Michael Approach for the Enantioselective Synthesis of Piperidine Scaffolds

A collaboration between our group at Nottingham and Manchester Metropolitan University has proved very fruitful and led to a communication in J. Am. Chem. Soc. The work showcases an entirely new biocatalytic disconnection using transaminase enzymes, enabling access to a range of valuable alkaloids. Importantly, it also presents an unprecedented example of dynamic chemistry, involving shuttling the newly installed amine functionality across the molecular framework.
